PART 1: PRIVACY POLICY
We believe your mornings are personal. This section explains what data we collect to wake you up effectively and how we fiercely protect your privacy.
1. Data Collected
To provide a functional and gamified alarm experience, Rousr processes specific operational data:
- Wake-up Logs & History: Times you successfully woke up, skipped missions, or snoozed alarms.
- Alarm Settings: Your scheduled times, chosen ringtones, mission difficulty, and specific alarm configurations.
- Subscription Status: Identifying if you hold an active Premium subscription tier.
2. Data Storage and Sharing
Local Storage Only: All your personal alarm data, settings, and wake-up logs are securely stored locally on your device via an encrypted Room database. We do not transmit, host, or back up your wake-up habits to external servers.
No Data Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except for the explicit technical requirements of managing ads or premium billing (detailed below).
3. Required System Permissions
Rousr relies on core device permissions to execute its primary features, specifically the interactive wake-up missions:
Alarms & Schedule
Required to set precise alarm triggers, overlay the wake-up screen on top of other apps, and prevent device sleep during an active alarm.
Notifications
Required to show upcoming alarm reminders, missed alarms, and persistent status icons indicating an alarm is scheduled.
Camera Access
Strictly used for "Photo Missions" (e.g., scan a barcode or take a picture of a specific object to dismiss the alarm). Photos are processed locally and discarded immediately.
Microphone Access
Strictly used for "Voice Missions" (e.g., speaking a specific phrase to wake up). Audio data is analyzed locally and never recorded or transmitted.
Privacy Guarantee: Camera and Microphone data is processed in real-time within your device's memory. We do not save, record, or upload your photos or voice snippets anywhere.
4. Third-Party Services
To keep the app running, we integrate with trusted Google services:
- Google Play Billing: Handles secure transactions if you choose to subscribe to premium features. We never see your credit card data.
- Google AdMob: Serves advertisements to basic tier users. AdMob may utilize hardware identifiers to display contextually relevant ads.
5. User Rights & Data Deletion
Because Rousr operates entirely on a local Room database, you maintain absolute control over your information. To request data deletion, you simply need to:
- Clear the app's storage data via your device's Settings menu, OR
- Uninstall the application from your device entirely. This permanently purges all logs and settings.
6. Children’s Privacy
Rousr is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal or usage data from children under 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that a child has provided us with information without their consent, they should contact us immediately.
PART 2: TERMS OF SERVICE
1. Acceptable Use
Rousr provides utility tools to help you wake up early. You agree to use the photo and voice missions safely and responsibly. Do not set up photo missions that involve driving, operating machinery, or moving in hazardous environments.
2. Limitation of Liability
Rousr is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we strive for extreme reliability, the Android operating system is complex, and background processes can occasionally be disrupted by battery optimizers or system updates.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer (appjam9) is not liable for any damages resulting from missed alarms, including but not limited to missed flights, lost employment, failed examinations, or consequential losses.
3. Policy Updates & Notifications
We may modify these terms and our privacy practices as our app evolves. When significant changes occur, we will explicitly notify users by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the very top of this document.
- Displaying an in-app notice or pop-up during your next session following the update.
